Preschool Art Gallery
It would be awesome if the Park District could have a Preschool Art Gallery.
This would help advertise our preschool programs and what we do in preschool to the people using our facilities.
It would also be great for the preschool student's to see value in their creations.
For 3 weeks of every month, process art* will be featured from the students of 1 class at that location. Art work will be displayed on black cardboard mats or in frames. Each piece will be accompanied by a name plate identifying the artist's first name, age, and (possibly) title of the piece.
(Process art is an art activity where each art project turns out differently. Students might be given instructions on how to use tools, but they aren't told what their art should look like when done.)
The art work will also be accompanied by a description of the learning skills that were part of the creation. Possibly even pictures of the students engaged in the process of making the art project.
The first week of the month would be for transitioning the gallery from one class's "show" to another class's show.
The preschool classes would rotate turns being featured in the gallery. The teachers would be responsible for putting up and taking down the gallery. They would be able to use any process art project from the lesson plan the month before their turn. In the unlikely event that an appropriate process art activity is not on the lesson plan, the teachers would be able to replace any art activity that month with a process art activity.
Possible location-
ACC- preschool hallway and/or the hallway to the multipurpose room
BRAC- the hallway between the gym and dance studios
We have shared this idea with the team to review.
